We rescued Marley (originally Mattie) on December 18th 2006. He is a year old now and a bundle of joy. He is so intelligent. He fetches his "squeaky" and anticipates us throwing it back to him. I am so greatful that we found this site and the perfect addition to the family. He keeps me safe at night when Tom is not home. Adopting animals is such a wonderful feeling

Hey everyone! Doing really well with the new family. Even the big brother plays nice with me (Elvis is a rott). Saw my new vet who just happens to be in the family too. Life is good and Mom says I am too!

Dear friends! I was adopted and am having the time of my life! My new family didn't even change my name. My big brother, Elvis the rottweiler, is so much fun to play with. we chase each other around my big fenced in backyard for hours. Then Dad makes us a fire and we hang out by the fireplace napping. I also have my very own veterinarian!! She comes by to check on me at lunch. Plus there are so many people in my family that I almost never have to be in my crate. I hope to see you soon!

We adopted Cody (aka Rocky) and Casey (aka (Saint) Nicholas) on 2/15/05 and just adore them. They have grown even more with Cody weighing 120 pounds and Casey a healthy 100 pounds. Even though they are both from Wright Way, they hadn't met each other (Cody was in foster care with Kathy) until we went to adopt one and couldn't choose so we adopted both! We wondered how they would get along. Well...they play like brothers should...always wrestling and stealing each other's toys! They play and wrestle constantly with one pinning the other and then they switch, playing until they're covered in drool and exhausted, just like two boys would play! If anyone is hesitant to put two dogs together that don't know each other...well, we think it's worth it! We're so happy with our boys and really grateful to everyone at the shelter for their help. Just wanted you to know that we really love them and they give us so much love in return. Thanks Wright Way!

Hi there. We adopted 7 month old Boxer mix "Cosmo" now known as "Archie" at the Sept. 29th adoption event in Vernon Hills. We are so pleased. He is so sweet. We are having a blast with him. He has such a wonderful personality. He loves everyone he meets and everyone loves him back. He is quite fond of playing "catch" with a ball and frizbee. He is also quite fast and can jump high in the sky. We see agility in his future. We would like to thank Wrightway for all they have done and are doing.
Take Care.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know how I'm doing! I was one of the Australian Cattle Dog/Beagle mixes [although mommy says she thinks I'm more Cattle Dog/Rat Terrior or Besenji than Beagle...] formely known as Scrabble, now known as Zepplin. I completed my first puppy class and love going to the Skokie dog park every day to play play play! My ears have shot up and everyone asks if I have a magic feather that allows me to fly.. I'm not quite sure what they mean by that...
Hopefully I can make next year's picnic! I was sick this last picnic with a tummy bug and could not make it out... thank you so much to Wright Way for helping out with rescuing myself and the others from that horrible situation!

Hi there. We adopted Beau (Now named Harley) at the August 31st adoption event. He's such a joy. He is very intelligent, and at 13 weeks he knows his basic obedience commands. He gets along great with his older brother, 9 year old Sammy (Chihuahua). I never got to see Bianca, who was Harleys cagemate at the adoption event, and I'd love to see what she looks like too, if her owners ever check in. I don't know if there is a way to post pictures on the guestbook, but I'd love to show you how gorgeous and handsome Harley is becoming. Thanks again for all the great work you do for homeless pets.

Hi this BG (Big Guy) when I was rescued you called me Tex. and I was Adopted by Ron and Doreen Sitter in Silver Lake Wisconsin. Well guess what! I'm now a Swiss Dog and I'm having a great time here in Switzerland. We go for walks almost every day exploring the Castle ruins in the hills above our home and the Vinyards which are outside of my Village of Muttenz. Dad says that Muttenz is a town just outside of Basel. They really like dogs here; and do you know that I have my very own Passport. The neat thing for dogs is that their owners can't have their tails cut off or their ears glued like my cousin Pearl ( she's a Airdale Terrior dog I know in Canada). And I get to go into almost every kind of store except food stores and some restaurants. I also get to ride on the trams and Trains and busses but I have to pay childs fare .
I will be living here for another 2 years at least and then we are moving again!! this time to Canada. (I visited there a couple of times) and we will probably be living in a Place called Saskatchewan. That will mean that I have friends in three different countries wow.
I sure hope my brothers and sister have been as lucky as me and I often wonder what ever happened to them , but I'm sure they are doing real well too so If you hear from them let them know I'm ok will you?
Well I'd better Go now We are going to go for a walk and I'd better get ready so take care everyone and I sure hope you keep up with your wonderfull work
Auf Wiedersehn Goodbye from BG (Big Guy)(Tex) Muttenz Switzerland

We adopted an American Bulldog mix, about 2 1/2 years ago, and we love her like nothing else:) She had a rough start, like many of the rescue dogs, but I am happy to say that she is doing very well and very spoiled:)
Thanks again and keep up the good work!!

Looking for littermates! We adopted "Tanya" from "T litter" at the Vernon Hills Petco on January 27 2007. Her name is now Addison, and every day she lives up to WrightWay's description: "the sweetest pupp[y] on earth." The puppies were identified as sheltie mixes (one looked like a boxer), but today our pup looks more like a Shepherd mix. We looked in vain for her siblings at the September reunion event, and we're really hoping to find them and their families. If you adopted a "T litter sheltie mix" in late January or February 2007, please contact us at sford -"AT"- 3windmills -"dot"- com and share your puppy tales! Addison sends a kiss to her siblings.

Just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at the reunion picnic. It's always so nice to see all of you every year. We always hope to see some litter mates from the Shakesphere litter, but no such luck yet. Thanks again for a wonderful picnic. Also, do we understand that you are going to be opening a new shelter in the Niles area??? You have at least one volunteer waiting with baited breath to find out!!

I adopted Bobbie, the little chihuahua/terrier mix senior girl, that was one of the "featured pets" from the recent puppy mill rescue. When I saw Bobbie on your website, I knew she just had to be mine! Her "before" and "after" pictures showed what a little fighter she is, and how she just wanted to find a loving home. She is doing very well and has become a great addition to our family. She is very sweet and is happy to play and run around with my other dog. She snuggles under the blanket with me when we're watching t.v. and follows me wherever I go. She has found her "forever home" with me and I am so glad I adopted her! Your rescue operation is wonderful and I just wanted to say keep up the great work! I truly feel blessed to have Bobbie as part of my family. Thank you, Wright Way!

Hi -
We adopted Jasper ( former Dallas from the Shepher/Golden Retriever litter) back in Sept ,2006. Can't belive my little baby is all grown up. She is now 13 months old. Jasper is absolutely a wonderful, she makes our lives much more fun, especially the moment we came home after a long day of work, seeing how excited she is to welcome us,bring a smile on our faces. Japer is an affectionate, low maintence , well behaved dog.She never chewed anything in the house besides her toys. She is also very alert and protective. I still remember those days when we used to wake up in the middle of the night to let Jasper out, gone were those days.. when she need to go, she will touch the "bell" we hang around the dog nob to let us know. Another side notes, when we adopted her, Kristy told us that Japer would grow into a big dog by because she has big paws and lots of skin to grow into..Surprise surprise, she is now only 45 pds, that must be the Chow in her ( she has blue spots on her tongue, so are her littlermates) We are coming to the family gathering on 9/1, and we really hope to see Jasper 's little mates =-)

Hi -
We have adopted Jasper ( former Dallas, the german shepherd-Golden retriever litters) in 9/16/2006. She is now 13 months old. Jasper is such a wonderful dog , we cannot imagine life without her. She is an alert, low maintence and well behaved puppy. I still remember those days when she was a few months old that we have to wait up in the middle of the night to let her out... ah ,... gone were those days. She is completely house broken and never chew anything in the house except her toys. She learned to ring a bell hanging on the door nob when she needs to go. She is affectionate but also quite independent. BTW, when we 1st adopted her,we were told that she will be a big dog because of her skin and size of her paws... surpise surpise, she is only 45 pounds... who would have guessed , I think it's the Chow in her =-) We will be attendin the family gathering tomorrow. I really hope to see some of Jasper's litter mates.

A quick update re: Ben (aka Blue). Ben is now in agility class, and loves every minute of it. His instructors believe he is very talented, having developed skills normally seen in week 6 in only his second week of class! Perhaps the greatest thing of all, though, is seeing Ben so utterly happy. Ben continues to be a love; we adore him, and thank you again for making it possible to add such a wonderful family member to our "pack".

Hello! On June 15, 2007 I was lucky enough to adopt Cadence (was known as Valentina from the V liter of Boxer/American Bulldog puppies). I can not believe what an amazing addition she has been to our family! She is extremely bright and we've been working on her training since we brought her home. She'll do just about anything for some of her food, and is very driven to learn knew things! She goes almost everywhere with me and absolutely LOVES any other people and/or animals she can meet! Cadence came with me to stay with my grandparents on our family farm and just thrived on the entire atmosphere and all of the family she was constantly around! Cadence's sweet disposition is also contagous and I haven't yet met a person who hasn't fallen in love with her. On another note she's also growing like a weed, though she is still small for her age. I love Cadence so much and I can't imagine how our lives would be without her here. I can't wait to continue to see her grow and enjoy the many coming years with her with our family. We are also hoping to see her brother and sisters at the family reunion picnic to see how they have grown and developed. WWR thank you so much for all the time, love, and energy you put into saving these amazing animals! I don't know what I would do without Cadence!

We adopted in April a Border Collie mix named Beatrix now named Sadie. She was a bundle of energy and craziness and very smart. We have since taken her to obediance school and she is doing very well, Sadie is so proud of her accomplishments from class. We would love to see all of her siblings, especially Becky her look a like sister. Sadie lost her white on her face and now just has the 4 white paws, white mane and only a little white on the tip of her tail but she has turned into quite a pretty teenager.
We want to thank WWR for being upfront about things that might happen when you adopt a puppy from a shelter so we were prepaired. We feel lucky you took Sadie and her siblings in so they had a chance for a good home.
We hope we see some of the puppies and their new owners we met the day we adopted Sadie. We will be at the Picnic.

Dear Wright-way,
This is Raven from the R litter; my new name is Dakota (I like it). I would like to say Thank you so much for finding me this loving home and for taking care of me while I was there. When I got here I was a little scared but mom was very loving and kind so I know this was the place, my home. I did have a small cold, but mom took me to this bad place she called THE VET, he was nice but I do not think I want to go back there. I am all better now, mom said I will have to go back to get fixed but I did not know I was broken. Mom said it will make me feel better later in life, but right now all I care about is when I’m going to get my next treat.
Life here at my house is great I have two new friends one is my big brother Duke. He is a black lab (mom said she will send pictures). His mom is my mom’s best friend. My other new friend is Lily, she lives upstairs from me. Mom said she is a mutt, I don’t know what that means but it did not sound nice. I do not want to forget Cheryl; she takes great care of me when mom is at work. I love Cheryl, she is Dukes mom.
I’m getting bigger every day. Mom said everyone at her work wants me to stay small because I’m so cute. But I can’t wait to be big like my brother. Well I’m hoping mom and I will see everyone at the reunion.
I just want to say thanks again and please know that mom and I are very happy and love each other very much.
Sincerely yours, Dakota

We adopted J.J. into our family at the June 29th adoption event in Vernon Hills. We admit, we weren't sure what kind of situations we might be getting ourselves into! He has turned out to be 100% the lover we were told he was, and has gotten along well with all our friends and family. He even did great on a 7 hour driving trip to Kentucky (with potty stops, of course!)!! He's been a great joy already to our lives. Thank you so much for rescuing him from a bad situation so we could spoil him the way he deserves!

My fiance' Eric and I adopted "Muffin" from Petco in Vernon Hills on July 6, 2007. She is a Chow mix and is a blessing to our family. I fell in love with her picture on the internet July 5th, and had to come see her the next day! She is very good about going potty already, trained for a specific place in the yard where the kids don't generally play! I must tell you, the first night we let her sleep in our bed. About 1:30 am, I she was moving around alot. My fiance put her down on his side, and I got up to let her out. I was in a hurry because I wanted to carry her out so she didn't "potty" on the floor. On my way around the corner of or bedroom door, I ran into the couch and broke my right foot and two toes! That's okay! I love her anyways! Thanks for allowing us to take her home. Her new name is Wrigley and she already knows it.

I adopted Dinki (originally named Curly), back in October. He is a seven-year-old black teacup poodle. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving Dinki a second chance at life. You took him in while other shelters found him unadoptable due to his skin disease. I am happy to report that Dinki now has a full coat of fur and his health has improved tremendously. He is the absolute sunshine of my life. So well behaved and his only request is to be held and cuddled (I am always happy to oblige). He has the biggest heart and we have become extremely attached to one another. I am so thankful that you brought him into my life. He is looking forward to showing off his new coat of fur and reuniting with his former care-givers at the picnic in September.

She has been on 2 walks a day since we got her--has tested the waters at the Lake and has made a trip to PetCo in Round Lake, for more puppies toys and met most of our other family--already!! She is just being, adored!!
She has already found her potty spot in the back yard and only a couple of small accidents since she has been home.
She will be seeing the Vet this week.....we just couldn't be happier!!
Thank you for all of your hard work and what you do!!!

We adopted Redford (now named Bear)from the "R" litter on June 15th at the Petco in Vernon Hills. He is such a sweetheart, he already knows how to sit for a treat and when it is time to eat. He is really good when he has to go out, he will scratch at the door or just sit there to let us know he has to go out. He loves to chase our 2 cats around the house,he sometimes gets feisty and he will even growl a little bit when he doesn't want to be bothered. He is such a joy to have in our house.
